"If
the Fountains of Wayne, Squeeze, and the Bee Gees had a baby, it
would sound like The Day Traders."

Upon
listening to our debut record, you may ask, how could this slick,
polished, big league-sounding pop record just appear out of the
blue? Questions abound.
Are
The Day Traders merely the concoction of boy band impresario Lou
Perlman? Did The Day Traders hire The Matrix to write and produce
all their hooks? No, and no. But we didnt get to this point
over night, and it hasnt been easy. We learned a lot from
our experiences playing in a little known Connecticut-based band
called The Dent. Perhaps you heard of us? No? I didnt think
so.
The
Dent certainly had its moments, and as a band, we created some
really beautiful music that touched a lot of people. But after
nearly 10 years together, we all got a little weary, and a little
restless. And a divorce ensued.
I
think this is the point where many people would have quit the
biz. And I can certainly say that there were moments when, feeling
defeated, the lure of Corporate America loomed large.
The only thing that kept me going was the (nagging) fact that
I was still writing some good music, and I knew Jeff was too.
So in the wake of The Dents break-up, Jeff and I, two of
the main songwriters for the band, began casually experimenting
with each others song ideas - ideas that remained dormant
for a year as we had spent nearly every waking moment recording
and promoting The Dents final album, prophetically titled
Farewell.
One thing led to another, and now, a year after The Dents
demise - with a ton of help from the almost frustratingly talented
producer and multi instrumentalist, and songwriter, and engineer,
and part-time porn star Saul Zonana weve released
our debut album as The Day Traders. Take that Corporate America!
Those
familiar with The Dents music will likely be surprised by
The Day Traders. Gone are the retro-string sections and the melancholy
rainy day ballads both of which defined our unique sound. In its
place are fun, polished, passionate pop/rock songs, made to be
heard blasting from car stereos on Top 40 and rock radio stations.
Saul really helped us do what weve always just wanted to
do: Pop Out! So thats where the story ends, and begins.
